Good Friday: Reflect on Christ’s Love for You
Arsenal of the King
By Chaplain Johnson
God Loves You
“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
John 3:16–17
The love of God is not distant. He is not cold or indifferent toward you.
His love is holy, and in His holiness and purity, it is personal, reaching out for a relationship with you.
Messiah Christ, fully God and fully man, proved His love for you when His arms were stretched upon the wooden cross.
He willingly gave His life. Men did not take His life from Him. No one could ever have put Christ on the cross apart from His will. King Jesus allowed it because of His love for you.
This is the love of God on display.
It does not matter what you have done or where you have come from.
Never forget that no matter what sin you may have committed, Christ took your penalties upon Himself at the cross.
Never forget: GOD LOVES YOU!
Whether you carry shame, grief, regret, or unforgiven sin, the cross of Christ declares that His mercy is greater.
If you have never come to Christ, do not turn away from the love shown at Calvary. Come to Him in repentance and faith.
He was slain on Good Friday, but He conquered death and the grave when Jesus rose again, victorious over darkness.
The stone was rolled away.
The grave was empty.
Death was conquered.
Jesus rose again, the victor over sin, death, and hell.
The Triune God acted on His love for you when He sent His Son to die for your wrongdoings so that you might be reconciled to Him.
Have you stopped to consider what the cross of Christ means for you personally? Good Friday reminds us that the love of God is not distant, but displayed in the sacrifice of His Son.
God invites you into His family.
To receive the forgiveness of sins, you must confess your sins and believe that He is the Son of God.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9,10
Come to Jesus. He is waiting for you.
He is still saving, still loving, and still calling.
Come home.
