Arsenal of The King
by Jordan Joshua
Hello brothers and sisters,
Personal Testimony
There have been times recently when I honestly wanted to give up. Moments when failure felt heavier than hope and I was tempted to throw in the towel. But in those moments, I had to remember who I was fighting for. My sobriety. My family. And most of all, Jesus Christ.
I am learning that the Christian walk is not about never falling, but about getting back up and continuing the fight. God does not abandon us in our struggles. He meets us in them and gives us the strength to keep going, even when we feel like we have nothing left.
Victory in Christ
“But when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written:
‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where, O Death, is your victory?
Where, O Death, is your sting?’
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law;
but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:54–57
Reflection
Jesus Christ gives us victory. So do not give up and do not give in. Jesus loves us. There were many times over the past couple of months when I wanted to give up completely, but I had to remember who I was fighting for. My sobriety. My family. And most of all, Jesus Christ.
The Inner Battle
*“For I do not understand what I am doing; for I am not practicing what I want to do, but I do the very thing I hate. However, if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, that the Law is good. But now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me.
For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin that dwells in me. I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good.
For I joyfully agree with the law of God in the inner person, but I see a different law in the parts of my body waging war against the law of my mind, making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my body’s parts. Wretched man that I am. Who will set me free from the body of this death?
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”*
Romans 7:15–25
Reflection
Thanks be to God who helps us even when we feel like we have nothing left in the tank and are close to giving up. It is the Lord who carries us through our failures and mistakes.
Rising Again
“For a righteous person falls seven times and rises again,
but the wicked stumble in time of disaster.”
Proverbs 24:16
Encouragement
Never give up. We fail because we are human. God tells us that none are righteous and all have fallen short of the glory of God. But it is the redeeming grace of Jesus Christ that gives us a reason to fight and a reason to have purpose.
So do not give up. Do not give in.
If you cannot run, walk.
If you cannot walk, crawl.
But never give up.
Your victory is closer than you think. Always fight for your purpose in Christ.
To God be the glory… always.
