FAITH IS NEVER MOVED

“8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”

Psalm 16:8

Luke 8:49

“49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.”

In the many years I have served God as a pastor, I have had occasions when I felt like giving up. Sometimes the responsibility is taxing and so overwhelming that the only thing that would make sense at that given time is to give up. However, the encouragement and peace I find in God’s word have kept me going. I look at Joshua’s calling, which is so overwhelming that God has to patiently pull him in with many words of encouragement, and many other Bible characters have similar experiences too.

Sometimes the discouragement will come from without. From the very people you are moulding your destiny around. Sometimes from family and peers.

The story in our text above pictures this so well. Jairus has won the heart of Jesus to come heal his only daughter. Of course, as Jesus sets to go to his house, some encounters slow down the mission to Jairus’s house. Nothing happens outside the knowledge of God. Jesus will use the encounter with the woman with blood issues to illustrate Faith to stir Jairus. But while Jairus is taking his Faith lesson, a messenger comes from Jairus’ home with bad news,

50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.” (Luke 8:50)

This is intended to test his Faith.

Great news is this! It’s what Jesus said that carried the day. Let us read it again.

Luke 8:51-56

“51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.

55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat.

56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.”

Always hang on to what God says. It doesn’t matter how logical or scientific the opinions of men may sound. So stay put, and do not move an inch from what God says.

He tells Joshua, “I will be with you” Yes, the ground may shake even after God has assured you that all is well. But you will do well to keep your focus because Faith stays on. It is never moved.

Deuteronomy 31:6

“6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”

Jesus did the impossible to raise that girl from the dead. Just think what can God do for you?

Thank you Pastor Musila for this wonderful word from the Holy Bible.
