Gun Control or Planned Future Elimination
July 23 CNN Town Hall
Biden and his administration are on the move towards stopping the sale of firearms. Although Biden does not say it, I believe that his administration’s intent is to eventually ban guns for the average person through rules, laws, and legislation. The proof is in the pudding, and Biden bragged his intent on CNN. Remember, law-abiding citizens do not kill, murder, or steal with weapons criminals do, and in the areas that guns were banned, after the ban, murders rise exponentially (1). On July 26, President Biden appeared on CNN and made some bold statements about his plans in,
“Continuing to push to eliminate” 9mm handguns, in addition to rifles, that are able to fire multiple rounds… “I’m the only guy that ever got — passed legislation when I was a senator to make sure we eliminated assault weapons,” the president said. “The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous. Biden states, “I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things…” (2).
In the case of Biden and his administration trying to stop the sale of rifles and handguns that fire multiple rounds, we seek the Chief Lawmaker Jesus Christ on the Bible’s view on self-defense weapons. A follower of Jesus Christ must go to the Scripture to test the rules, regulations, laws, intent of their leaders because we follow the rules and precepts of Almighty God over the rules of man (Acts 5:29). So what does Christ say about having weapons? Well, Jesus told His disciples to get a sword, and in our day, that would be a gun.
Luke 22:36
“36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”
First Draft of Constitution-
Now that we have seen that Christ directed the disciples to buy a sword to protect themselves, let us read what our nation’s founders had to say about people owning arms. Thomas Jefferson agreed with citizens owning arms because he strongly wrote in the first draft of the Constitution,
“No freeman shall ever be debarred the use of arms. “I. First Draft by Jefferson, [before June 1776],” (3).
Thomas Jefferson to Cartwright-
Jefferson understood the need for Americans to protect themselves because he wrote to Cartwright not only was it Americans right to be armed but their duty as well,
“That it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; that they are entitled to freedom of person; freedom of religion; freedom of property; and freedom of the press,” “From Thomas Jefferson to John Cartwright, June 5, 1824,” (4).
Second Amendment
The Second Amendment is to be genuinely prized as it lets us protect ourselves, our families, our homes, and our country safe. Arsenal of the King briefly explains the Second Amendment,
“When the Second Amendment states “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” This means it is the people’s right to own and carry/use weapons and equipment relating to weapons, and it is not allowed to be limited or made obsolete.” (5)
Regulating Pistols
It would seem the Biden Administration needs to read the Constitution. Your right to self-defense is on the line with the Biden Administration,
“On June 7, 2021, Breitbart News reported the DOJ moved to place certain AR-pistols under the purview of the National Firearms Act. But those AR-pistols are chambered in 5.56 or .223, not 9mm.” (6).
However, we find that restrictions placed on one gun will lead to more in the future,
“Biden’s mention of going after 9mm pistols opens the door to regulating wildly popular Glock, Heckler & Koch, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Kahr, Taurus, and Springfield Armory pistols, among many others.” (6).
Why do we care that there is gun control in our country? I think that this excerpt from an article by a priest of All Saints of North America Orthodox Church states it well,
“Because genocide IS a moral issue, and gun control advances have a reliably distinct pattern in history of leading to restriction of freedoms, tyranny and genocide. Gun control is a moral issue, and it is an anti-Christian one. Down through history, governments have disarmed their citizens only to tyrannize those citizens once they were disarmed.” (7).
ATF and Gun Control
When we begin to chip away at who can own a gun, and when authorities should intervene to strip gun owners of their firearms, we begin to chip away at everyone’s 2nd Amendment rights. The more restrictions and costs put on gun ownership drives the prices out of the hands of the very people who need them for self-defense. Single moms, the elderly, and disabled people live on tight incomes, and such costs make it prohibitive for those who need it most to purchase firearms. Owning a gun is the best protection for individuals who cannot protect themselves against criminals who intend to harm them.
Interestingly, a new proposal for firearms with braces is called a tax stamp; I seem to remember another Stamp Act that started the unification of the 13 Colonies, which would become the United States of America (8).
An example of such new costs making certain firearms prohibitive for impoverished Americans would be the $200-tax stamp that ATF is proposing,
“Gun owners in possession with a handgun equipped with a stabilizing brace that meets the ATF’s proposed definition of a short-barreled rifle must pay a $200 tax stamp and apply to register the weapon with the agency as a rifle.” (9).
Pelosi and Gun Control
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her anti-gun cabal are attempting to pass gun control such as gun licensing, “red flag” gun confiscation orders, and gun buybacks into the appropriation bills H.R. 4502 and H.R. 4505. Gun Owners of America (GOA) is announcing its opposition to these bills.
Gun licensing, so-called “red flag” gun confiscation orders (GCOs), and gun buybacks have nothing to do with “State and Local Justice Assistance” and have everything to do with undermining the Bill of Rights.
Tragically, H.R. 4502 goes on to stigmatize mental illness as well, advocating for veteran disarmament using GCOs.” (10)
H.R.4505 — 117th Congress (2021-2022)
In the 117 Congress, they are trying to pass H.R.4505 and includes GCO, with 50 million being earmarked under State and Local Justice Assistance for both gun control measures. In case you do not know what (GCO) is, it stands for gun confiscation orders. The following are sections from H.R. 4505 with the amount of money being proposed to 50 million for red flag and gun laws,
“(25) $40,000,000 for an incentivization program for red flag and gun licensing laws;
(26) $10,000,000 for a pilot program for gun buyback and relinquishment.” (11).
If one cannot attack the Bill of Rights and the 2nd Amendment outright, then the ones who want gun control must try to achieve the goal by using red flag laws, excessive taxes, tax stamps, rules, laws, and regulations to make the ownership of guns hard to achieve for the poor, and a bundle of red tape for others trying to lawfully exercise their Constitutional Rights. Not only does Congress strike at part of the Bill of Rights with their incessant lawmaking, but they also expect the American people to pay for their attacks against our firearm rights. Remember, these elected officials seek to limit and eventually ban firearms, and one might ask why? Why are they so desperate to control and block our rights? One only has to look at history to know that after guns are taken from the people at large, then authoritarian governments move to control the people. Unfortunately, it did not end well for the citizens who protested the new regime.
Gun Control and Genocide
“Historical data has demonstrated that every nation in the twentieth century which has perpetrated genocide has chosen a victim population which was disarmed. If the intended victims were not already “gun-free,” then the murderous governments first got rid of the guns before they attempted to begin the killing.” (12)
One only has to look at Turkey, the Soviet Union, China, Cambodia, Guatemala, Uganda, Rwanda to see that strict gun laws and firearm confiscation have allowed authoritarian governments “to remove power from the opposition,” and once they were helpless without protection millions and millions of people were slaughtered (12). So let us learn a lesson from history and use our voices to protest the culling of our freedoms lest we be next.
