When will Christ Jesus return? When will the last days begin? Are we in the end times? Is this the tribulation? How will we know we are at the end of days? Jesus Christ the Messiah, Who is prophet, priest, and King, warned His disciples that as it was in Noah’s time, so will it be at His coming. First, we will look at what Noah’s time was like.
Genesis 6:5-8
“5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
”6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
Genesis 6:11-12
“11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.”
Matthew 24:36-39
“36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
The Lord Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 24 some of the actions that occurred in Noah’s time; however, please be clear on this that the people continued to sin until Noah entered the ark. It gives pause for us to understand that Christ states our generation will do the same. The flood brought the judgment of God on a sinful people, and the appearing of the Son of Man will bring judgement on those who denied Christ and His Word.
John 5:27
“27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.”
2 Timothy 4:1
“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom.”
Comparison of People Then and Now
Genesis 6
Great wickedness of men
Continual evil thoughts
Violence everywhere
All men ruined/corrupt
Matthew 24
Marrying and giving in marriage
People oblivious to what is happening
Now
Great wickedness
Continual evil thoughts/ideas
Violence increasing
People becoming more corrupt
Solely focused on their lives
are oblivious to current times
Noah found grace in God, and his faith was a testimony to the lost world around him. Noah had faith in God and believed His words and built the ark believing a flood would come. Will you follow God and forsake the world for Jesus? Like Noah of old will your faith be a testimony to the lost around you?
Hebrews 11:6-7
“6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
The time is late. Look at the warnings Christ gave. They are all around you; evil is rampant, as the Scripture teaches society thinks right is wrong and wrong is right (Isaiah 5:20). Like in the days of Noah the world around is forsaking the teachings of God and immersing themselves in sinful desires with no concept of eternal consequences. The Holy One is calling repent, repent for the Kingdom of God is near. Now is the time to repent, to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus for all who believe on His name will become saved (Romans 10:13). Throw yourself on the mercy of God while there is still time for judgement is coming.
Isaiah 5:18-25
“18 Woe to those who drag their sins behind them like a bullock on a rope. 19 They even mock the Holy One of Israel and dare the Lord to punish them. “Hurry up and punish us, O Lord,” they say. “We want to see what you can do!” 20 They say that what is right is wrong and what is wrong is right; that black is white and white is black; bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. 21 Woe to those who are wise and shrewd in their own eyes! 22 Woe to those who are “heroes” when it comes to drinking and boast about the liquor they can hold. 23 They take bribes to pervert justice, letting the wicked go free and putting innocent men in jail. 24 Therefore God will deal with them and burn them. They will disappear like straw on fire. Their roots will rot and their flowers wither, for they have thrown away the laws of God and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. 25 That is why the anger of the Lord is hot against his people; that is why he has reached out his hand to smash them. The hills will tremble, and the rotting bodies of his people will be thrown as refuse in the streets. But even so, his anger is not ended; his hand is heavy on them still.”
My beloved brethren, may the Lord Jesus Christ richly bless you.
