Brothers and sisters who claim the name of Christ need to be aware of the scheme of the enemy that is creeping into our churches, Christian websites, Christian social media, and Christian books. When did the prophetic church become so hungry for a word, a reading, a thought, that people have made themselves vulnerable to the words of individuals who are masquerading as Christians? Warriors, God does speak through His children, but believers have lost the understanding that Christ speaks through the Word of God and is the Word of God (John 1:1,14). There are Christians who are given the gift of prophesying and some who are prophets of God, nevertheless Christians cannot be vulnerable to people we do not know and who are trolling churches, Facebook, groups and the internet to sell or practice their illicit wares on unsuspecting innocents. There has been an escalation in the church and on the pages of Christian, religious, spiritual, mystics and prophetic Facebook groups and web pages of individuals who call themselves prophets and offer psychic readings often disguise as a prophetic word or reading. These charlatans even ask money for such words. The Scripture states that the gifts of the Lord are not to be bought or sold (Acts 8:9-24). It is past time for the church to explore what God has to say about spiritual practices of questionable origins that are steamrolling their way into social media and our churches.
These individuals say they are Christians and claim that they are prophets, mystic Christians, or Christian psychics in churches and on Christian, religious or spiritual sites. The danger is that these imposters are actively seeking to give others what they call a prophetic reading, a spiritual reading, a word, or just a reading as if they are a prophet of God or have the gift of prophecy. These individuals do not walk in the light or the truth. First and foremost, a prophetic word is given from God through the Holy Spirit to a Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and who has the gift of prophecy.
Ephesians 1:13
“13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”
1 Corinthians 12:3-12
“3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”
Christians must not give heed or sample wares of false words or readings that individuals masquerading as prophets of God or spiritual advisors look to provide. Warriors of God must be aware that the words or readings given by lookalike Christians often have spiritual similarities to prophetic words, and alarmingly they are offered in many churches such as Bethel, and online sites or social media which is how they fool the innocent and naive (1). The words or readings that drip from their mouths are not based on Christ or the Word of God, and subsequently, they are not Biblical and thus akin to fortune-telling, reading omens, and other idolatrous practices, which are forbidden for the Christian.
Deuteronomy 18:10-14
“10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.
14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.”
Because false religious practices are slipping into the church, we need to investigate what is a prophet from a Biblical and worldly viewpoint. It is essential to know that some religions identify them as seers. It is imperative, however, as Christians to understand that Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Baha’i, Catholicism, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Latter-day Saints/Mormons, Seventh-day Adventist, Christian Science, Ahmadiyya, Judaic Messianism, Hinduism, and even Native Americans have practicing prophets or attribute characteristics of their religion to words spoken by prophets. Are modern-day prophets, or psychics Biblical?
The Biblical definition of a Prophet and or Seer
In the Old Testament, a prophet- “One to whom God speaks,” Amos three uses this definition (2).
Amos 3:7-8
“7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
8 The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord God hath spoken, who can but prophesy?”
The Old Testament also translates prophet as a seer in 1 Samuel 9:9.
1 Samuel 9:6-19
“6 And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.
7 Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?
8 And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.
9 (Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to enquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)
10 Then said Saul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of God was.
11 And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?
12 And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:
13 As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.
14 And they went up into the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the high place.
15 Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,
16 To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
17 And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.
18 Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer’s house is.
19 And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.”
In the New Testament prophet is translated as, “one who speaks forth or openly,” “a proclaimer of a divine message,” Acts 11:27-28 shows an example of prophets (2).
Church age prophets are also mentioned in Acts eleven, and Ephesians four.
Acts 11:27-28
“27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch. 28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.”
“11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-12).
What does the Bible say about Read or Reading?
Because a read or reading of a spiritual or prophetic type is so prevalent in the church and culture, it is imperative to examine if it is a Biblical approved action. First off, a read or reading is not listed in the New Testament or the Old Testament in any way that is in conjunction with a prophetic act of a prophet of God or prophesying.
The Blue Letter Bible Website defines the word “read” by Biblical definitions as, “To distinguish between, to recognize, to know accurately, to acknowledge” or to put it simply to read or comprehend the material read.” (3).
The following verse in Exodus 24 typifies a pattern in the verses where the word “read” is used. The word “read” is used in the context of to read a book, or to have read a book or to encouraged to read the word.
Exodus 24:7
“7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.” (Exodus 24:7).
The Blue Letter Bible defines the word reading as “knowing, a knowing again, owning or reading or simply act of reading.” (4).
The following verse in Acts 13 is typical of all the Biblical verses which include the word reading in the Bible and is quite literally reading as in reading a written book or encouraging us to read the Word of God.
Acts 13:15
“15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.”
Description of New Testament Prophesying
According to First Corinthians 14: 24, 25 prophesying is evangelical and confirmation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to bring glory to God.
“24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so, he will fall on his face and worship God declaring the God is certainly among you.” (1 Corinthians 14:24, 25).
In First Corinthians, we also find that prophesying is [a]edification or to build someone up, [b] exhortation is to warn, admonition or gentle correction [c] and to comfort to care for or console them. Prophesying is the Christian sharing what the Holy Spirit gives them to edify, to exhort, and to comfort others.
1 Corinthians 14:3
“3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.”
John 14:16-19
“16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.”
Worldly definition of a prophet
According to Wikipedia, “Claims of prophethood have existed in many cultures throughout history, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, in ancient Greek religion, Zoroastrianism, Manichaeism, and many others.” (5).
Webster’s dictionary states that a prophet is “One who utters divinely inspired revelations,” some synonyms- diviner, foreteller, fortune-teller, seer, prophesier, seer, soothsayer (6). Several religions have prophets, but these people are not prophets of the Most-High God. Christians should be concerned that false religions are creeping into the prophetic church and need to be on guard who they let speak words over them, remember not everything that shines is gold. Recognize these evil pretenders do not possess gifts of the Holy Spirit, indeed they utter revelations that are not from Jesus Christ, but they utter words of their own minds. God warns Christians in Jeremiah not to listen to the words of those prophets who speak out of their own minds.
Jeremiah 23:16-17
“16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.
17 They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.”
God warns Christians in Ezekiel not to listen to the false prophets, and God will surely judge them. Believers need to understand that as in Israel not all false prophets were from other religions.
Ezekiel 13:1-9
“1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the Lord;
3 Thus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!
4 O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.
5 Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the Lord.
6 They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The Lord saith: and the Lord hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.
7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The Lord saith it; albeit I have not spoken?
8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord God.
9 And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord God.”
What is a Psychic or Seer?
A psychic, sensitive, medium, channeler, witch, wizard, mystic, or Christian mystic is an individual who uses demonic supernatural means or accessories such as stones, cards, leaves, palmistry to read, tell or know things about people. They may know things about your past, things you like, animals or other things. Keep in mind that such individuals do not derive their knowledge from Christ, and if they do not derive their knowledge from Jesus Christ, then from where does it derive? We will find out later in this article that the knowledge or information of enchanters whom, Strong’s includes as soothsayers or fortune-tellers, come from a demonic source.
God is not pleased when His children participate in idolatry; in fact, the first King of Israel lost his life for his involvement with a witch or woman with a familiar spirit. Let’s read his account from the book of Samuel,
1 Samuel 28:7-17
“7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10 And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the Lord is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?
17 And the Lord hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the Lord hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David.”
King Saul had already petitioned God, and the Scripture states that the Lord would not answer Saul. Then Saul went to a witch for information; however, there was and always is a harsh punishment for God’s children who practice actions that are forbidden in the Bible; for his disobedience to God’s Word Saul became the enemy of God and lost his life and his kingdom.
People who do not proclaim Jesus Christ as their Savior for the forgiveness of their sins do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them. Henceforth when these individuals give, supply or speak readings or words the information they give cannot come from God, and because the information cannot come from God it has demonic origins. Since they are not believers, they are workers of unrighteousness and fall into the realm of psychics, intuitives, channelers, mediums, mystics or sensitives practice false religions, and additionally, may be into witchcraft or the occult. Webster’s dictionary tells us that psychics are, “Sensitive to nonphysical or supernatural forces and influences: marked by extraordinary or mysterious sensitivity, perception, or understanding/Synonyms channel, channeler, medium, spiritist, spiritualist.” (7). According to the International Academy of Consciousness people who possess, “psychic ability or psychic capacity is hence being able to perceive, to ‘read’ what is beyond the physical realm (8).
Bible Precepts About Psychics, Diviners, Witches, Enchanter, or Wizards
While the word psychic does not appear in the KJV Bible, it has many names that describe it, including witchcraft, wizard, false prophet, divination, soothsayer, knower, and witch. According to the Lexicon, a wizard has a spirit of divination, and is a false prophet, and the KJV uses the word wizard as one with a familiar spirit, a necromancer, a soothsayer, or a knower (9).
The word divination is defined by Strong’s as a lot, divine sentence, witchcraft, and the outline of usage is divination, or witchcraft as used in the following verse (10).
The word enchanter in Biblical usage is described as “fortune telling”, “observe signs,” “practice divination”, and Strong’s definition is “to hiss, or whisper a magic spell”, and the Lexicon defines it as the “whispering of soothsayers” or “divination by serpents; as if it were demon.” (11). Christians would do well to remember the harsh judgement Saul faced when he visited the witch (1 Samuel 28).

Who Gives Psychic or Intuitive readings?
This a shortlist of the people and or religions who practice psychic or intuitive readings was compiled from many sites on the internet: mediums, mystics, spiritualists, intuitives, occultists, Wiccans, Satanists, black magic, mystic Christians, witches, New Agers, and several false religions. At any case, this article is not an exhaustive list of false religions. This piece is a warning to Christians who may be accessing the services of individuals who claim to walk in the light of Christ and His righteousness but are walking in the false light of the evil one and unrighteousness.
What is a Psychic Reading?
Be aware that the astrology room defines, “a psychic reading is a modern description of the ancient practice of divination, just as the term ‘psychic reader’ is now more widely used than ‘fortune teller.’ But a colorful parade of mystics, seers, mediums, clairvoyants, shamans, and human oracles march through thousands of years of human history.” (12).
While the word psychic is not in the KJV Bible, there are many words used that are interchangeable with psychic, such as wizard, witch, fortune-teller, soothsayer, divination, false prophet, familiar spirit, or a lot. The KJV Bible lists fortune-teller as knower, familiar spirit, soothsayer and according to the Astrology Room, the word psychic is now used instead of fortune teller which means psychic is synonymous with a list of idolaters. The Blue Letter Bible will give more information on this by looking up Strong’s H3049. Strong’s H3784 also lists sorcerers, witch, and witchcraft in the following verses Exodus 22:18, Deuteronomy 18:10, 2 Chronicles 33:6, Daniel 2:2, and Malachi 3:5 (13).
Who are False Prophets?
Deuteronomy 18 and Isaiah 8 both warn that witches, enchanters, diviners are an abomination to God, and such people were stoned or driven from the land of Israel. While the word psychic is not used in the KJV Bible, many synonymous words are used: witch, witchcraft, diviner, familiar spirit, false prophet, enchanter, or wizard. Brothers and sisters do not seek out false words or readings because Leviticus states seeking out practitioners of other faiths defiles the children of God.
Leviticus 19:31
“31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.”
Peter warns Christians of the dangers of false prophets, they are false teachers or idolaters who worship a false god and as such Christians are forbidden to visit them.
2 Peter 2:1-3
“1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
“9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
Not all that looks light is light
Child of God recognize that darkness loves to hide itself as light. It is when darkness camouflages itself as light that evil is the most dangerous. Brothers and sisters did not the Lord Jesus warn that Christians must be wise or shrewd as serpents (Matthew 10:16). Do not be deceived my brethren the enemy is clever. In Second Corinthians Christians are cautioned that Satan and those who are his workers can and do alter or hide themselves as apostles of Jesus.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15
“13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”
Whom should Christians seek?
Christians should seek God who knows the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end for information that is vital for their life (Revelation 1:8). The King of the universe loves and cares for every single person with His infinite grace. Jesus Christ has given children of God, everything they need in His Word, and the Holy Spirit within us will reveal all to us.
“The Spirit of Truth reveals to us treasures of wisdom and knowledge that are in Christ Himself for all our needs for in, “And of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” [Colossians 2:2,3]” (16).
Be fortified because Y’shua tells us, “My sheep hear my Voice,” and remember the Holy Spirit always confirms Y’shua and the Word of God (John 10:27). So, any choice or plan that goes against the Word of God is not of God no matter how good it looks (1 Thessalonians 1:5).
In the Bible, we are directed to seek our God and not seek after idolatrous people who practice evil.
Leviticus 20:6
“6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.”
Isaiah 8:18-20
“18 Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
Test the Spirits
Christians be proactive and research to check out the backgrounds of the people, churches, and the sites or groups they are visiting or allowing to give them words or readings. Pray and discern if the individuals giving words, or whatever they are called, are based on Biblical values. Being prepared with Biblical knowledge will protect the believer help discern if they are pseudo-Christian regardless if they are individuals, churches, or sites with a conglomeration of other religions chiming in their idolatrous philosophies through articles, books, websites, YouTube, or Facebook which spew dangerous fallacies? What Biblical precepts do they follow or proclaim on their pages or sites? Test this website, compare it with the Word of God and be as the Bereans who searched what they were taught, “11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” (Acts 17:11). Moreover my brothers and sisters in the faith, be wise, and use the Word of God and test what is being said,
1 John 4:1-4
“4 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
God Hates False Worship
God’s chosen people the Jews brought severe punishment on themselves because of their idolatry, and their land became divided into the northern and southern kingdoms. The northern kingdom was more wicked and fell sooner than the southern kingdom of Judea, however Judea still was judged. Israel endured captivity and ultimate destruction and the Jews were scattered all around the world as their judgement for their refusal to follow God’s Word and for participating in worshiping false god’s. The beautiful end of their judgement was God loves them and in His mercy He brought the Jews back to their land in 1948, however, think of all the sorrow they would have not endured if they only listened to God.
2 Kings 17:17
“17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.”
Galatians 5:19-21
“19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Leviticus 19:26-31
“26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.
29 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.
31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.”
God Uses Prophets
God used prophets in the Old Testament to foretell and share His Word, and in New Testament prophets are one of the gifts given to the church (Ephesians 4). In the Old and New Testament, we are told that believers shall prophesy (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17, 1 Corinthians 12 and 14).
Fools Gold
Be on guard warriors of Christ do not be as the miners who were tricked by fool’s gold. Be shrewd and expose that which seems it is light for what it is fools gold with no value. Remember while the words psychic, intuitive, medium, or mystic are not listed in the Bible there are other words that hold the same meanings and are listed under idolatrous practices of witchcraft, wizards, familiar spirits. Brothers and sisters be wise and realize that not all who offer prophetic or spiritual words or readings are workers of righteousness. Many prophets are indeed false prophets who are covertly disguising themselves as righteous. Jesus Christ stated,
“21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:21-23).
Over and over again the Lord has made it clear He is angry at His children who practice false rituals. Christians are commanded not to be defiled by evil. Christians should be alerted by the account of King Saul who lost his kingdom, and his life after failing to heed the Word of the Lord and participated in witchcraft. Be wise do not seek out witches, wizards, or those with familiar spirits which would be the modern-day equivalent of psychic, intuitive, mystic or medium. Stand firm and reject those who do not speak the Word of the Lord, who speak out of their own mind and are workers of iniquity sent to deceive those naive enough to listen. Reject words from people that do not line up with the Word of God, those whose lives are not holy and pure, and whose sites or social media do not follow the precepts of the Word of God.
Christ Protects in Perilous Times
Never forget the Word of God, Who is Jesus Christ protects our hearts and minds. Seek the truth of Him who died to redeem man to God. Warriors of Christ stand firm and find strength in His Word that thou may be furnished in life.
2 Timothy 3
“1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was.
10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3).
