I am here to give glory to God because He gives rest amid the battles or the storms of life. It is His pleasure to be our Shalom, our peace for He is the Prince of Peace. I want to tell of the wonder of our God who was with us when a fire broke out in the dark hours of the night, sadly our home was a charred shell and I thought we lost everything. We barely escaped the flames and I sat out in the car with my children and watched in shock as the top layer of our home was engulfed in flames. God provided a place for us and we were taken in by friends on that cold winter night. Tears streamed down my face when I was allowed to walk through the smoky remains of our home. Anything that wasn’t ruined by fire was a wet, grimy mess and all our belongings were a total loss.
As I entered the living room, I surveyed the wet curtains on the wall and I gingerly moved through the water and debris to pick up some of our family pictures but they were nothing but soggy leftovers ruined of the fire. I went up the sooty stairs to peer into my daughters’ room and gasped in horror for all that was left of the colorful room was the blackened remains of the metal springs inside of her mattress. I fell to me knees and lifted my hands in praise and adoration to my God that all of my family was alive. It was then that I realized that I was wrong we did not lose everything, but we had all that mattered. The Fire Marshall later told me he did not know how anyone survived because if the fire does not kill you the smoke inhalation can and often does.
The next year God walked with me and my family through the valley of the shadow. I am a walking testimony that He was and is my constant strength when I had none, and I can testify that God always provided food, and clothing for us to wear. During that year while our home was rebuilt, we were homeless had to move from place to place but God always provided shelter for us. I cried out to Jesus Christ for all our needs, and God used this year to instill gratefulness for the little things and my faith in Christ increased as He became the supplier of all my family needed. God who is Creator of the universe gave me peace and joy in the storm, and I am encourage you that no matter the circumstance Christ is all you need.
Philippians 4:19
“19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
As you read this word given to me by the Holy Spirit be strengthened that He fights for you and gives you the rest you need in this stressful, sometimes insane, world. Not only will He give you rest, He will give you joy, and you will sing and dance as the storm rages around you because He is worthy.
Isaiah 43:1-5
“1 But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. 2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. 3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. 4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. 5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west.”
Purity and honor are in the hand of the Lord (1)
A soldier must master these as weapons in his arsenal
Purity and honor come straight from the heart of God
Pouring out of Him like fiery water from a fall (2)
For His heart is pure and He is holy and just and truth
The heart of God resides in His Christ for Christ is God
God showed His heart through the physical presence and sacrifice of Christ (3)
Christ, Who is with us, the hope of glory
Eye hath not seen and ear hath not heard the wonderful things (4)
God has for you, for me for everyone who believes
To find rest the warrior must find himself safely ensconced in the arms of Christ
Deep rest surrounded by the protection of the Great Shepherd (5)
In the fiercest battle He calls us to rest in Him
To find peace as the battle rages on
To enter into His presence of joy
To lift His banner high to proclaim He is God (6)
To sing to him to celebrate His victory
When those around us fall we are safe in His arms of love
Safe to lift up our shield of faith
Safe to raise our swords and declare His Word
We are safe because He is magnificent in His strength
His strong right arm of defense has no equal (7)
He is the mighty One who is fierce in battle (8)
Rise up to my defense, oh my King
Victorious One shout over me with joy (9)
Rouse mighty One rouse
Raise your war cry in my defense for I am weak like a flower that bends in the wind
Roar, Lion of Judah, roar, and your enemies will flee (10)
Rouse your armies, rouse your bride with your shout
His enemies will flee at His roar
Call to the Lord He is waiting
He will not turn you down (11)
He is the Great Shepard who gave His life for His sheep (12)
He is the radiant One who sits at the right hand of His majesty (13)
He sees and hears our cries and rescues us in our distress (14)
Come Lord Sabbath, Lord of rest (15)
Fight for me and give me rest in the battle (16)
I challenge you to be radical believing God’s word means what it says, and I know you will have peace and exuberant joy in the battle. The Lord is mighty and will do battle for you, He alone gives rest amid the battle. Believe He is God Who loves to rescue you and give you joy and rest, so you are like Israel a sign and wonder to those around you. For it is in this rest that God is glorified, you are lifted up, protected and shielded by Him in the storms of life. To God be the glory. Praise His name because you are a walking testimony of His love, grace, and protection. Sing, dance, lift up holy hands, and voices to Him who is our EL Shaddai, our everything. Be radical!!
