As it is time for the holiday season, let us remember the reason for the season; is that the Lord Jesus Christ was born on this earth as a gift to humanity. God gave Christ to bring redemption to mankind through the death of His Son on the cross.
God gave man the ultimate present by redemption and adoption by the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son. His sacrifice for man’s evil deeds brought renewal with God and new life in Christ (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). So this season, when you celebrate by exchanging presents decorated with ribbons and bows, let us remember the beautiful gift of Christ. In reflecting on Christ who came to give to others, ponder what gift to give to Him who gave His all. When thinking of a gift for someone, you imagine what they would like. There is nothing Christ would want more from you than the gift of yourself. You can do this by getting outside your comfort zone and reaching out to others who may not be the same as you, those who may not have reasons to celebrate, and those who do not have as much as we do. As you stretch outside of our comfortable, you bring the love of God to the poor and needy.
You see, as a born-again believers, you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you, and He will prompt you by His discernment to give a word of wisdom or a word of knowledge. The Holy Spirit will guide you on how to reach out to others who are in need and will provide you with prophecies for people. Just think, God wants to use you to make a difference in others by using prophetic words: comfort, edification, and exhortation (1 Corinthians 14:3). Even when you are giving to God by giving to others God gives you revelatory gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Remember, it does not have to be a grand gesture. A prayer, a kind word, and a smile are gifts to others. There have been times when life was so hard I could not even ask for prayer, and when someone reached out, it helped me through the dark valley and offered me hope. You could be the one who comforts someone in despair and gives them hope.
So this year, as you are headed out to do your errands or go to work, ask the Holy Spirit to prompt you who Jesus Christ would like to use you to bless because loving others is a beautiful gift for Christ. Sharing your money, food, or goods, as you never know who is having a difficult time, your kindness can affect someone’s life. Giving coffee or hot chocolate to someone outside is a blessing. Soon you will realize that the best present you receive this year will be the gift of giving to others.
I pray you and your family will be blessed with the comfort, peace, and joy of Jesus Christ. The staff of Arsenal of the King prays for all our readers regularly that they may be blessed, warned, prepare for the future, and receive wisdom from the teachings the Holy Spirit gives us. Merry Christmas to all.
John 3:16-17
“16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
If you don’t know Jesus Christ, the eternal gift of love, then all you need to do is ask Him to be your Savior. He is waiting for you with open arms of love that stretched out on the cross for your salvation.
How do I accept God’s gift of love for me?
Admit all have sinned, including you.
The payment for your sin is death.
Jesus took the payment for your death.
Accept the gift of God.
Believe in your heart. Christ died for your sins and rose again.
Confess or say with your mouth that you believe in Christ. (1)
