Jesus Shows His Love for His Mother, and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!

Happy Mother’s Day!! Arsenal of the King wishes you a blessed day in the Lord. Mother’s Day is a special time set aside to honor our mothers. Mothers come in many forms and are so generous with their love for us whether they are birth moms, moms who stepped in to love kids who aren’t their own, or mom’s who spiritually nurture us. It is our heartfelt prayer that God will shower MOM”S with His love, and fill them with His wisdom. I realize our moms were not perfect but this is a great time to forget past hurts and practice the love of God for who can know if your act of kindness may win a unsaved mom to Christ. (A quick note to understand that I am not asking for people to reconcile or put themselves in places of hurt with abusers).

Jesus’s Care for His Mother

One of our wonderful Savior’s last acts upon the cross was to take care of his mother. God is so good; not only did He assure His mother would be taken care of by His beloved disciple, but He demonstrated that we are all family in Christ. Furthermore, this action foretold of the coming Scripture that we are to treat older women as mothers (1 Timothy 5:2).

John 19:25-30

“25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!

27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”

Biblical Directives

We are blessed when we care for our parents (Deuteronomy 5:16). We need to love and provide for others, especially our families. Christians are commanded to provide for family. In 1 Timothy 5:8- “8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”

In the 1 Timothy 5:8 directive, Strong’s definition states to provide for is “to consider in advance, look out for beforehand (actively, by way of maintenance for others…(Strong’s 4306).” So lets look at it this way, we are commanded to look out for, give support, and take care of our mothers. We are blessed when we care for them, and we provide because we love them, and as Christians we delight to serve and obey our King’s precepts.

God Is All We Need

We praise God; He is our provider. So take heart those who are alone or widowed, for God is your husband and will provide for all you need, for He is Jehovah Jireh the Lord, our provider.

Isaiah 54:5

“5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.”

Philippians 4:19

“19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Remember to show your love to those who have been mothers to you. Give them a call or a text, believe me they will love to hear from you. May God bless richly beloved ones in Christ. Happy Mother’s Day from the staff at Arsenal of the King,

Till we meet again,

AB
