In my life as a Chaplain I have counseled many people to help them through the hurt and even trauma other people’s words have had on their identity, self-esteem, and self-worth. Often without knowing it people will cause hurt on others. So let me say to you words are powerful. For out-of-the-mouth proceeds good or evil, whether you realize it or not, the tongue is a mighty weapon. You may use it with supernatural intent to bring forth the will of Almighty God by pulling down strongholds, prophesying using comfort, edification, or exhortation, and sharing the divine gospel of the Good News of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
Be the person who speaks life to others sharing Christ and His precepts by your tongue.
Proverbs 18:21
“21-Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Use your mouth to lift others by speaking words of truth and asking the Lord to use you to prophesy into the lives of others.
1 Corinthians 14:3
“3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for edification, exhortation, and consolation.”
Or the enemy can use your words to destroy others by speaking out of anger, for do not words tear down and wound others by our anger, bitterness, and wrath. Each hateful or angry word is like an evil weapon stabbing the person on the inside.
James 3:8-10
“ 8 But no one among mankind can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people, who have been made in the likeness of God; 10 from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.“
Pray for supernatural changing through the Holy Spirit that you may be slow to anger and not spew hurt; instead, walk in the Spirit and bring forth God’s righteousness.
James 1:19-20
“19 You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; 20 for a man’s anger does not bring about the righteousness of God.”
Pray that your mouth will be a fountain of life that brings forth the beauty of Christ and His life-affirming precepts.
Proverbs 10:11
“11-The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life,
But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.”
Do you not know that you are called for more? Only through Christ can you find the strength to conquer your old man and speak life. You are called to preach and teach the gospel with your mouth. Bless the Lord and speak words of beauty and love to others. Bring the Good News of Christ.
Romans 10:14
“14 How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? 15 But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!””
Dearly beloved of Christ. It is my prayer that you will become conformed to the image of Christ laying aside earthly anger and bitterness. Walk in the calling God has for you as a justified saint, glorified in Christ.
Romans 8:29-30
“29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.”
